Recently I wrote my first musical composition. Well, the first one beyond playing random stuff on a piano or a recorder, that is. Although it is short and basically develops just 1 or 2 themes, it is an arrangement for several instruments (harp, pan flutes, flute) and so quite a jump in complexity–I had to deal with harmony to some extent. It is an evocation of awakening, thus its title. Anyway, I’d like you to give it a listen if you like, and tell me what you think about it. It is based on the development from the calm of sleep, onwards towards light and clarity of mind, the awakening of the senses, and finally the promise of a new day. (I’ve been accuse of too abrupt a modulation towards the end, but I think it serves its purpose.) Here you have Awakening.
I’d like to give thanks for some tools without which I would have never been able to do this: QWS was my sequencer, MIDI Yoke helped me pipe the data, VSTHost held my synth during realtime use, SynthFont was my synth, fed with the General User GS 1.4 soundfont.
I hope you enjoy it.
